Makes sense to me for an unpaid responsibility. Allows more opportunities for moderators to be available based on different time zones, and if some mods just don’t/can’t give the site any fucks for a period of time.

Even if there was only 10 regular people who posted, what if one person wants to post tubgirl nonstop but the only mod was at work, or on vacation, or whatever?
